University council
The Governing and Control of the Open University is vested in the Council which has the following powers.
To administer the properties of the University both movable and immovable.
To administer the funds and assets of the University.
To signify the acts of the University by use of the Common seal.
To receive gifts, donations and grants or other moneys and to make disbursements.
To appoint such officers of the University when needed.
The University Council appoints a qualified and suitable person to be the Secretary to Council. The Vice Chancellor is appointed by the Chancellor upon recommendation of the Search Committee formed by virtue of the Charter and Rules. The Chancellor upon recommendations of the Search Committee formed pursuant to the provisions of the University Charter appoints too Deputy Vice Chancellors to assist the Vice Chancellor in their respective functions.
