about the Faculty
Tracing its origins back in 1992, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences (FASS) deserves a claim to be Open University of Tanzania’s oldest faculty. The Open University of Tanzania (OUT) is an open and distance learning institution offering certificates, diplomas, degrees and postgraduate courses. The education delivery is attained through various means of communication such as broadcasting, telecasting, information and communication technologies, correspondence, enhanced face-to-face, seminars and contact programmes. It is a vibrant, lively and supporting intellectual community with diverse student body, committed to academic excellence. The University extends learning access beyond the traditional full-time residential student body, hence making it the first of its kind in East Africa.
