The Master of Arts in Mass Communication (MA MC) programme generally aims at preparing learners to be mass communication experts who can execute their duties strategically to meet organizational goals and objectives. It will enable them to work in dynamic environments regardless of the political, social or economic situations. It offers courses that will enhance their ability to communicate effectively and most importantly to keep them abreast of evolving communication technologies. They will be exposed to corporate communication, mass communication planning and evaluation as well as media regulations and ethics. These courses will be extensively covered through blended mode that entails face-to-face, e-learning through the Moodle Platform, and webinar lectures through zoom.

Candidates holding the following qualifications will be eligible for admission into the Master of Arts in Mass Communication (MA MC) Programme:
- First degree holders from recognized universities in the field of journalism and mass communication.
- Candidates with Advanced Diploma or a Pass Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication will also be considered for admission if they have satisfied the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences that they have exhibited academic potential through extensive field work and/or additional training.

The MA Mass communication programme aims at creating a pool of well trained and qualified professional mass communicators to meet the demand of the Non-Governmental Organizations, public and private sector in the country. This programme will
enable them to effectively engage in building stakeholders’ sense of trust, transparency, productivity and engagement towards attaining organizational goals. Also, it will enable the learner to carrying out research projects, consultant works and produce well researched quality mass communication content and messages for various purposes depending on employers or clients need.
Internal assessment
All courses are examined during the academic year in which they are studied. The assessment consists of six discussion assignments and one term paper for each course which forms the coursework and a three-hour annual examination at the end of the academic year. The coursework contributes 30% while the annual examination contributes 70% to the final grade. More details on assessment regulations are provided in the OUT prospectus.
External examiner
All examinations are usually moderated by external examiners. Also, dissertations are submitted for evaluation to external examiners.
