Diploma In Library And Information Studies(DLIS)
The Diploma in Library and Information Studies (Level 5 & 6) gives learners knowledge, skills and competencies to work in libraries, research institutions, documentation centers and information resource centers. Students will able to manage them, including how to classify and catalogue library materials, administer collection, provide information services, carry out stock taking, maintain circulation of materials and enter and maintain library data.

- A Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (C.S.E.E.) with passes in at least FOUR subjects, obtained prior to sitting for the Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (A.C.S.E.E) or equivalent AND any of the following:
- Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (A.C.S.E.E.) with at least 1.5 points from TWO subjects. OR
- NTA Level 5/Professional Technician Level II Certificate.
NB: Passes in Religious studies and General Studies are not counted.
The programme is arranged in two levels, NTA Level 5 and NTA Level 6. The programme therefore carries a total of 240 credits (24 Units) where 120 credits (12 units) are covered in the first year and the rest 120 credits (12 units) are covered in the second year of study

Upon graduation, successful candidates will be awarded an Ordinary Diploma in Library and Information Studies of the Open University of Tanzania.
Each Module carries 100% marks. Coursework carries 30% of the total marks; final examination counts for 70% of the total marks, as the standard form for all OUT programmes
